We have all kinds of educations in sciences, mathematics, technology, economics, and even theology – but Jesus taught us how to live as person
The way of forgiveness
For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, (Matthew 6:14)
What brings people together again –forgiveness
What keeps people apart – the opposite of forgiveness.
Forgiveness is relational not religious.
Thus it was not surprising during the times of Jesus, there were many religious groups teaching this and that but people continued to be fed-up with their neighbors.
Anyway people were not too happy with the “extra duties” imposed by these religious leaders. Don’t be surprise if the high priest usually dines alone.
Jews, Gentiles, Romans all congregated in Jerusalem – Herod had a hard time trying to keep everybody happy. The Pharisees were complaining Jesus had His party with sinners and tax-collectors.
Jesus taught us how to relate to people, how to relate to God. Yes it is all related, how we relates to people have everything to do with how we relates to God.
As we learn the way of forgiveness among ourselves we have better chances of understanding the grace and forgiveness of God.
So Jesus taught His disciples to forgive.
The way of acceptance
She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more.” (John 8:11)
It is true that repentance goes before acceptance.
She was singled-out, rejected and to-be condemned. Nevertheless she received her new chance to life from Jesus.
Jesus was her one lost hope, in fact Jesus was her only hope before death – Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more
Jesus preached repentance so that we can be accepted into the Kingdom of God.
She may have lost her acquaintances and social status but she is accepted into the kingdom of God if she follows the ways of Jesus.
John the Baptist – his ministry was noted as baptism unto repentance. John the Baptist expected our will and acts of repentance, and Jesus set His approval on John’s ministry.
Let’s hear one of John’s greatest sermons –
But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to where he was baptizing, he said to them: “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath? Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. (Matthew 3:7-8)
Short straight to the point – John the Baptist was a busy man, image the long queue of people wanting to escape the wrath of God by getting into the water with him.
John was “hungry” for God and these people brought no “fruit of repentance”.
So the Pharisees and Sadducees wanted to be accepted but John demanded – Produce fruit in keeping with repentance.
In other words, if these people are sincere about their repentance, their life will shows with its fruits, change of hearts, change of attitude, change of life priorities and practices.
The faster we change the quicker we enter the kingdom of God.
The way of giving
In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” (Acts 20:35)
People are more familiar with getting and holding – Jesus taught us how to give and bless others.
The amazing thing about giving – there are people who loves to gives and are happy and satisfied.
The strange thing about getting – people in the habit of getting but never satisfied, even to the extent of hoarding excessive things and resources.
Strange things in human society, people who gives seems having no lack in their lives, people who hoard appear always in need. Let the economist figure that out.
The best way to be satisfied – gives with a cheerful heart, give willingly, give and forget about it.
When people try to count and recall what was given, people soon lost interest in giving and sharing.
When we forget who we bless, blessing comes knocking at our doors impromptu.
It’s the banker’ job to keep track of every transactions – but we are disciples and followers of Jesus, we give we bless and we let the blessing of God go as far as it can reach.
The way of truth
Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. (John 17:17)
If we can understand that humanity’ heart condition is central to our holistic health, we need to understand the truth of God words reveal the condition of man’s heart.
People are convicted by the truth of God’s words. Human intentions are weighted and we need to be accountable to love God and love people.
In recognition of truth people are given the options to go through life’s transformation which brings us back to our Creator.
In rebellion people continue to stumble in darkness.
The teachings and examples of Jesus deals with the conditions of Man’s heart – the truth of God’s word have the power to cleanse us from our sin if we response in faith, the truth of God’s word have the power to sanctify us to become effective servants of God.
Truth reveals what’s hidden in darkness.
The reality of human intentions hidden in hypocrisy and lies comes to light when judged by the truth of God’s word. The truth of God’s word is meant to deliver us from our own human path of darkness.
The light of God’s truth has shown us the way to the kingdom of God, a kingdom of true happiness and eternity.
Jesus is THE way
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6)
The same Father whom Jesus is referring to is the same Almighty God who created the earth and the heavens, humanity and the tree of life.
The same God Almighty who have every intention to care for and provide for humanity.
Due to human deficiency in knowing and understanding the way, the truth and the life of God, many remain lost in darkness.
Jesus is the true shepherd of our soul, and His ultimate goal is to bring us humanity back to the Father, back to our access to the tree of life.
People who continue their own ways, continued in their own labor and search for salvation without Jesus, ends in fruitless effort without finding the real tree of life.
Jesus is THE way to life, happiness and eternity.
