follow Jesus – #007

Let’s walk with Jesus

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He makes me lie down in green pastures.

He leads me beside still waters

He restores my soul.

He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Psalm 23

What was written in Psalm 23 is a good reminder of our life journey with Jesus.

Salvation is only our starting point. Our ultimate aim is to find that eternal fellowship with Jesus.

In the beginning God created everything for good.

God’s provision and protection are there for our blessing.

Mankind had broken that fellowship with God but through Jesus we are restored back to fellowship and relationship with our Father in heaven again.

We are saved by grace through Jesus.

Once again we received the provision and protection of God, we feel blessed and acknowledge God’s goodness through our thanksgivings and praise.

It is good to give thanks to Jesus.

Due to sin, mankind was subjected to bondage and slavery which gave us no rest. And such slavery of the mind and soul, only Jesus has the power and authority to break.

Jesus the shepherd of our soul, He leads us by His words, He fill us with living waters in our hearts.

Jesus restores our souls, and we are set us free from our human burdens and bondage due to our fallen nature.

Jesus knew we needed our provisions to be restored fully, and Jesus provided what we needed most – our rest in the Lord because we really need to take a break from our human burdens.

In our walk with Jesus we learn to have a grateful heart, it is good to be thankful because Jesus will bring about a final and complete restoration.

Give thanks to Jesus for the freedom to enjoy our fellowship with God.

We need to continue to walk with Jesus and enjoy our rest in the Lord, because we really need to rest in the Lord.

How often due to over-work and exhaustion we lost track of our fellowship time with Jesus, we missed our time for restoration.

We need to know we have limited strength and power, overloading will make a mess of our self.

We need to rest in Jesus because we really need to.

Jesus restores our souls back to God, through His provision of rest and in this time of rest and restoration we enjoy the presence of God.

How nice.

We learn to enjoy life with God.

Rest and relax in Jesus.

We need to walk in the path of righteousness, because the opposite direction leads to destruction and ruins. The opposite of righteousness is the way of darkness and separation from God’s goodness and blessing.

We need to keep track on the goodness and blessings of Jesus and keeps walking in it.

The name of God speaks life and blessing, thus as we walk in righteousness because of God’s name, we are walking towards life and blessing, we are walking in the light of Jesus.

This path of righteousness is become our beacon of faith, so that we don’t lost track. This path of righteousness is the light of truth which keeps us on the right track. This path of righteousness is our hope in Jesus.

In life we have to face distractions and deception, but we need to find our focus on Jesus. We need to say NO to distractions and deceptions.

Jesus the shepherd of our soul makes sure we don’t lose sight of Him.

We need to consistently keep our minds and hearts on Jesus.

Our enemy of life is more than the devil.

Our enemy of life is more than death.

Anything and everything which have the capacity and potential to separates us from our fellowship with Jesus is our enemy of life.

For example –

Our laziness to continue fellowship time with Jesus

Our anger which led to rage, and our lack of forgiveness

Our fear and worries which make us forget to trust God

Our excessive commitment to things of this world in trying to make ends meet

Our lack of love for Jesus

He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

How often Jesus the shepherd of our souls has to restore us back to fellowship with God.

Jesus is faithful, He will continue to do so but we need to keep up.

We need to keep up and not lost track.

We need to keep moving with our shepherd.

We need to stay close to Jesus, till we reach our time of eternity.
