(Romans 3:21-26)

But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe.

For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith.

This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

This faith Paul referred to has everything to do with Jesus.

Faith is about our trust and confidence in Jesus …. and we need to know what had Jesus done and how to response.

This faith mentioned in Romans centered on Jesus redemption for humanity.

We will not know in details what Jesus had done to save us if we don’t hear and study and believe what had been published and made known about Jesus and God’s salvation plan for humanity.

We could not understand anything about faith, if God had never revealed it to us through Jesus.

Faith is not a personal emotional issue, not a human idea.

Faith in Jesus is a God-given gift.

Faith is a God-given ability to trust that God will save us and guide us as according to His promises.

This faith needed to be received by responding to the Gospel message, although God have already provided

(Matthew 7:7)

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”

God’s gift of eternal life through Jesus has been made available but we need to ask to receive.

This faith in Christ reveals to us God’s standard and provision of righteousness to save us and to redeem us from death and eternal lost.

The Old Testament Law and Prophets taught us great details about righteousness, and we knew by our own self we do not have what we needed to receive eternal life. The requirements of the law which is set by God revealed to us the one and only perfect sinless person who has the ability to present atonement sacrifice for sin and will be accepted.

Jesus offered his entire self as atonement for our sin.

Jesus death, burial and resurrection from the dead, is the infallible proof he is God’s appointed Messiah.

(Hebrews 10:12)

But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God

Our faith in Jesus is based on the fulfillment of God’s promises.

Our faith in Jesus is based on Jesus’ fulfillment of God’s will in totality and completeness.

Jesus is our redeemer, our savior, our hope.

(Hebrews 10:19-23)

19 Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus,

20 by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh,

21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God,

22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.

23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful

Therefore we focus our attention on Jesus and abide in His commandments.
