Sola Scriptura and the necessity of preaching the Gospel of Jesus

(Psalm 138:2)

I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

The words of God are so important God Himself gave priority.

For us today we already know Jesus is the word of God revealed.

In the beginning, what was created was created based on the words of God.

God said “Let there be light” … and there was light!

If God said nothing, there would be emptiness.

The words of God are manifestations of God’s authority.

The nation of Israel was delivered from slavery of Egypt based on the words of God.

Israel’s entrance and survival in the Promised Land was based on their obedience to God’s word.

When Israel needed deliverance from the enemies, the promise of a Messiah for complete salvation was based on God’s word.

Fast forward to the days of the Gospel

Jesus said –

(Matthew 4:17)

From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

Jesus did not start a new religion but was calling forth a new generation of people who will obey the Gospel.

All of creation existed based on obedience to the words of God.

The continuity of creation will also be subjected to the words of God.

For us to be part of the kingdom of God we need to response in obedience to God’s word revealed through Jesus.

Jesus preached “repent” – repent from what?

Our unbelief and disobedience against the words of God

God command obedience as the words of God takes priority in our lives.

Fast forward to the times of Acts

Acts 1:8

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

We will be witness of God’s promises fulfilled through obedience to Jesus the word of God.

Therefore the necessity of preaching the Gospel so that people can response

(Romans 10:14)

How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?

The words of God are so important we must give priority and preference.

To preach the Gospel is to promote and prioritized Jesus the word of God.
